How how to tell when the battery life of a power wheelchair is up?
The battery of electric wheelchair as its power core, its performance and status directly affect the overall operating effect of the equipment and the user's safe travelling. When the battery is gradually aging or approaching the service life, there will be some obvious characteristic performance.
1. Significantly shorter use time: If you find that the distance travelled by the electric wheelchair is greatly reduced after being fully charged, and its range is significantly reduced compared with that of the newly purchased one, this is usually an obvious sign of the battery's declining performance.
2. Increased charging frequency: Batteries that could originally support a longer period of time now require frequent charging to maintain a normal range of motion.
3. Inability to fully charge: When the battery is unable to reach a full state of charge even after a normal charging time, or when it fails to charge after a certain point, it may also mean that the battery is damaged, or is nearing the end of its useful life.
4. Difficulty in starting or lack of power: on a flat road, if the power wheelchair becomes difficult to start, the acceleration response is slow, or in climbing slopes, over hurdles and other scenarios show a clear lack of power, it may also be a problem with the battery.
5. Abnormal performance: If the battery has physical damage such as bulging, severe heating, liquid leakage, etc., it indicates that there is a serious problem with the battery and it needs to be replaced immediately.
If the electric wheelchair has the above symptoms, it probably means that the battery life will end, you should contact the after-sales service centre or professional technicians to check and replace the battery according to the situation to ensure safe travel and normal operation of the equipment.
Routine maintenance of batteries:
(1) Electric wheelchair batteries are mainly lead-acid batteries and lithium batteries. No matter what the battery needs to be charged in time, keep the battery full of power at all times; long-term battery undervoltage or deep discharge will lead to battery storage and discharge capacity weakening, range reduction.
(2) Driving a power wheelchair must pay attention to avoid rain and water areas when encountering heavy rainfall, otherwise, water flooding of the battery may lead to a short-circuit of the battery causing accidents.
